Eating dark chocolate to improve exercise performance

Recent studies have showed that dark chocolate contains an ingredient called flavonol epicatechin. The research concluded that after two weeks of feeding mice flavonol epicatechin and having them run on a treadmill their performance improved by 50%. What they found was that the participants (mice) who ran on the treadmill had an improvement in skeletal and cardiac muscles resulting in an improvement in endurance capacity.
